capitalism ruining video games isn’t even close to being a new phenomenon. companies in 1983 were rushing out so many shitty licensed Atari games that people just got fucking sick of it and stopped playing video games for years.
the video game industry crash took essentially every major video game company off the market because the profits fell by 97% and didn’t even recover until Nintendo tricked everyone into thinking the NES was just a toy by bundling it with ROB.
(and let’s not forget Tetris, probably the most successful and popular video game of all time, was created by some random office worker in the soviet union. profit wasn’t even a consideration when the game was being made)
